Figaro's Feast and Festivities

Once again, Princeton Friends of Opera is delighted to offer a spring party: Figaro’s Feast and Festivities.  This event, hosted by Judith Brodsky, Michael Curtis and the Princeton Festival Steering Committee is a celebration of the marriage of music, art, and food for the greater Princeton community.  We are also delighted to honor The Princeton Festival’s 2015 opera production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro.

Invitations will be in the mail shortly, but just to give everyone some advance information.

Guests are urged to arrive, rain or shine, at about 11:30 am on Saturday, May 2.  We will feature two alternating arts programs beginning at approximately 11:50 am.  Judith Brodsky will present her original Hogarth prints from his series, Marriage a la Mode, highlighting marriage in the 18th Century.  Alexandra Venizelos will present a illustrated talk:  Wedding Celebrations in Renaissance and Baroque Art.

This will be followed at 1:00 pm with a full Bridal Luncheon.  It is actually Michael and Judith wedding anniversary.  How fitting to celebrate!  Ongoing will be a Silent Auction.  We would love to have your fully tax-deductible donations.

Of course, we are after all, Princeton Friends of OPERA, and after the wedding cake, yes, the wedding cakes, at 2:00 pm we will have a very special opera presentation.  Lois Laverty is researching Mozart’s 20 Operas and with the help of Rachel Barker, soprano, and Derrick Groff, piano, will present a program of arias spanning Mozart’s compositional career:
