Boheme Opera NJ is pleased to present for its 29th season in 2018 two iconic verismo operas, Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci and Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana. Written as a contest entry in 1890, Cavalleria Rusticana won first prize. It was such a success at its premiere in Rome that the cast received 60 curtain calls. In contrast, the 1892 premiere of I Pagliacci in Milan was judged very harshly. Today, these often paired works are continuously performed throughout the world.
